Anticoagulation Clinic

Saint Margaret Mercy’s Anticoagulation Clinic, with locations in Hammond and Dyer, is open Monday through Friday. It is the only clinic of its kind staffed by clinical pharmacists who have been trained in anticoagulation management. The Anticoagulation Clinic offers:

  • Outpatient laboratory testing using a fingerstick method; results are available within minutes.
  • Review of a patient’s drug therapy for potential drug interactions.
  • Comprehensive patient education and counseling regarding anticoagulation therapy.
  • Care managed by a pharmacist under the guidance of the patient’s physician.
  • Results and a progress report of the patient’s condition delivered to the physician following each visit.

Physician referral is necessary to enroll in the clinic. The pharmacists work with the patient and his or her physician during the course of drug therapy. The team approach can decrease the risk of side effects and improve patient outcomes.
